There's a moment when we'll have to reconsider using more of them instead of plain CGI. I don't fancy too dynamic shots, especially when they're done just for the kicks of zooming close to buildings, trees, mountains or other crap.
They should be used as much as they were in the 90s. They provide gorgeous semi-static backgrounds for SF and fantasy shows without spending millions in CGI shots that still look terribly fake until one pours budgets coming close to what Farscape was getting on its best episodes (for example).
